River Corran and Mackerel lake Stream first year report.
Laugharne Citizen Science started testing the River Corran and Mackerel Lake stream in Nov 2024. The first year results have been analysed and a report produced which you can download via the link below. No major issues but the report covers this in some details. Thank you to all who took part and supported the group to enable us to do this important work . We are carrying on with the Corran and Mackerel lake stream and have just started testing the River Taf and the estuary.

Water testing results Nov 2025
Charts below show a rolling 12 months results and also the comparison of Nov 24 to Nov 25. Before we collected water there has been 2 weeks of heavy rain , and the high nitrate could be due to the amount of slurry spread on fields before the closed period in mid-October.

6 months of Water testing results.
River Corran and Mackerel Lake Stream (The Laques). Below are the results of the water testing the group have been carrying out once a month since Nov 2024. So far the results suggest the river water is of reasonable quality, but we are only half way through the initial 12 months of testing. Ammonia No results for Ammonia in Feb testing Nitrate Results were in line with previous . Phosphate Phosphate one sharp increase at site 2. This is still early days in the project. Once we have completed 12 months we will then have a base for future years. Thanks to all who helped collect samples, test the samples and, maybe most importantly, helped fund this project.
